I can’t recommend her enough!

March 15, 2024

Unlike its neighbours, in Mizoram, tourism is still in its infancy. And if there is a pioneer in the state who is attempting to establish the industry there, it’s Mapui. She runs an incredible homestay (with generous help of an enterprising young man by the name of Henry who is as incredible a cook as he is a storyteller) that quickly becomes home. Mapui and Henry go beyond the call of duty to give you a full-blown sensory experience of this largely unexplored state. And if you have the appetite, they will take you beyond the handful of tourist hotspots to places lost in time with unbelievable stories to tell.

I spent nearly 2 weeks (or maybe more) with Mapui on my month-long trip to Mizoram last year and I will be heading back soon. See her homeland through her eyes and I promise, you will be absolutely dazzled. I can’t recommend her enough!

Fabulous stay

March 12, 2024

I stayed at Riahrun Homestay, for almost 7 months while working at Aizawl, during the dreadful Covid outbreak. Inspite of innumerable restrictions and meagre availability of resources, the stay was enjoyable and pleasant with all the credit going to Mapuii and of course Henry(The one man army). The place was maintained in a pristine condition surpassing the neatness of the city. The personal touch and involvement of the hosts in your well-being makes it a perfect place to stay, explore Mizoram and experience warmth of her exceptionally disciplined and friendly locals. I wish them success in their future endeavours.

One of the best trips I have had!

Mizoram is unexplored and untouched. It is a land of many landscapes, lush green mountains, enchanting valleys and many view points. Mapui and team were extremely kind, helpful and generous. Special thanks to Henry and PB for taking me around during the trip and taking care of me. They welcomed me into their homes with open arms and made me feel like one of their own. I didn’t feel like I was out of home. I loved hanging out with Joan too. She’s too sweet. Thank you for inviting me into your family and making me feel homely. I will be back again soon to see the monsoons of Mizoram.

There is little or outdated information available on Mizoram, making planning your trip a nightmare.

I was fortunate to have been referred to Mapuii (founder of Riahrun), who not only runs a fantastic homestay but is also well-versed in the history and culture of Mizoram.

My extensive 2-month trip across this stunningly beautiful and hospitable state, wouldn’t have been possible without her support and guidance.

However, more than a good host she is a great human, and now a dear friend.

Mizoram is lucky to have an ambassador like you!
