Hriangmual/ Mawmrang

Hriangmual, also known as Mawmrang, lies in eastern Mizoram’s Saitual District, about 180 km from Aizawl and just outside Phuaibuang village. The mountain is covered in lush evergreen forest and is home to wildlife such as stag, deer, wild boar, monkeys, and many birds. Flowing through the area is the Talan River, and deep within the forest sits Fangfar Puk, a cave about 15–20 feet wide with stalagmites whose dripping water is collected by locals for traditional healing.

Hriangmual also carries historical significance—during the late 1800s, the Thado (Ngendal) tribe lived here, leaving behind thousands of monoliths and six preserved stone tables that still stand today. INTACH Mizoram continues to study these remarkable stone structures. Protected by the community of Phuaibuang, Hriangmual remains one of Mizoram’s most untouched and least-explored destinations, best visited between November and March
